Yes! We Care 2008 Report

Yes! We Care 2008 Blessed the City on 31st May.

3,600 volunteers from across the church in the city left their homes on May 31st to go out and love the city of Brisbane and the surrounding regions.

The day started off wet but that did not deter those who were committed to the task of helping people in need.

With over 80 churches involved, the impact for 870 homes across the region was great. The activities ranged from gardening, vacuuming, window cleaning to rubbish removal.

Another impact felt by the volunteers on the ground was the spiritual activity from four Prayer Towers across the city. The purpose of the intercessors manning them was to cover everyone working throughout the day, as well as the people receiving the help and any specific prayer needs that were relayed throughout the day.

At the celebration BBQ’s for the teams that were held at the twenty Zone Meeting Points, it was impossible to tell who was part of what church, let alone which denomination. Everyone had a common theme and that was to share their experiences of the day and the excitement of being Christ’s hands and feet.

We have received many responses from the residents whose homes were visited. They ranged from being overwhelmed at the help to gratefullness for the work and amazement at the generosity. Many declared they had been blessed—one little lady even going so far as to call her three male volunteers, angels from heaven!

Early in the wettest part of the day, there was much surprise that the volunteers came out in the rain just to help them. Many teams also took a small gift like biscuits or muffins to each home they visited.

Yes! We Care in conjunction with the National Day of Thanksgiving, is now part of the Greater Region of Brisbane.

Next year, it will be held on Saturday 30th May and will be the fourth year that the churches of Brisbane will have the opportunity to bless the homes of this region.

So, return to this website to stay in touch with the plans for 2009 and find out how you can be part of this kingdom initiative. Planning will begin immediately. Information for churches will be posted on this site from time to time but early in the new year (2009) most of the information will be updated for the 2009 Yes! We Care blitz.
