Programme for 2008
The Theme:
Mobilising churches and ministries to care for the city through a three step process:
- Yes We Care — Praying together in the City Hall.
- Yes We Care — Acts of service and compassion across Brisbane.
- Yes We Care — Evangelism.
The Launch:
Yes! We Care was officially launched on February 29 2008 at the Lord Mayor's Prayer Breakfast for Pastors and Church Leaders.
We Pray:
City wide:
- Participating churches pray in their local settings.
- April 30th, the Briznet Concert of Prayer - the launch of the prayer offensive for the YWC day..
- The October Concert of Prayer (October 29th): - an occasion to give thanks to God for what was accomplished on the YWC day.
We Care:
The Yes We Care event will be held on Saturday, May 31st. It is an occasion for Christians across the city to demonstrate in a practical and united way, the love of God to people who need a helping hand in some way. We clean, wash windows, remove rubbish to the tip, repair fences, screen doors etc etc.
We Share:
Following the campaign, churches are encouraged to engage their community by sending obligation-free invitations to those they believe would benefit from Yes We Care. These invitations are simply to come and share a meal, in a non-threatening and casual atmosphere and are to be a free invitation. The meal could be a breakfast, BBQ or pot luck dinner, with the aim to build relationships between the church and the community and most importantly, to provide opportunities to explain Christianity through courses such as Alpha, Introducing God and Christianity Explained.
