Welcome to Yes We Care 2007
On Saturday June 2, get your old cleaning clothes and work boots as we blitz Brisbane in the biggest clean up day so far!
In 2006, we were able to help over 300 homes, as we made a difference in the lives of the widowed, elderly or physically challenged and those in need, by serving them in practical, yet life changing ways … and that doesn‘t include the 600 volunteers who all walked away feeling blessed in return. Now, it‘s your chance to be part of Yes, We Care!
We need you and your friends to get ready to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate and those in need, within our Brisbane community. For 2007 the Lord Mayor Campbell Newman‘s office, has nominated an additional 300 houses that are in need of a good “spring” clean. We are going to clean windows, mow lawns, wash dishes and sweep floors, to let the people of Brisbane know that Yes, We Care!
If you love a little bit of cleaning, have a spare few hours to mow some lawns, or perhaps have a Ute that you can collect rubbish with, or even just want to have a cuppa and a good ol‘ chat, then it is you we need! The more volunteers we have, the more lives we can touch in one day!
We will gather at regional meeting points on Saturday morning (June 2nd) for a short safety briefing before we send you out to say Yes, We Care to our nominated Brisbane households. You can find your region‘s coordinator, meeting place and time below. Afterwards, there will be a free sausage sizzle, allowing you the time to catch up on the day‘s events.
Don‘t let Saturday, June 2nd pass you by without helping the greater Brisbane area to know, Yes, We Care!

Yes We Care is an initiative of the Briznet Partnership
Programme for 2007
The Theme:
Mobilising churches and ministries to care for the city through a three step process:
- Yes We Care — Praying together in the City Hall.
- Yes We Care — Acts of service and compassion across Brisbane.
- Yes We Care — Evangelism.
We Pray:
City wide:
- Participating churches pray in their local settings.
- On May 2, the Briznet Concert of Prayer will be opened by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman where participating churches and ministries will come together and pray in the City Hall for Brisbane and Yes We Care.
- On October 31 we will pray together to thank God for the year and for His continuing blessing in building and using us.
We Care:
For one week in 2007, hundreds of churches across the city will have the opportunity to serve together to change our city. This is made possible by the support of the Brisbane City Council, who provides the homes we will serve on the day. Join us in loving Brisbane with acts of kindness, generosity and compassion to create a week of complete love and care!
- This will commence with the National Day of Thanksgiving on May 26 2007.
- June 2 2007 will be the main day on which we will serve our city through acts of kindness by visiting hundreds of homes with teams of volunteers to show Brisbane that Yes We Care!
We Share:
Following the above campaign, churches are encouraged to engage their community by sending invitations to those they believe would benefit from Yes We Care. These invitations are simply to come and share a meal, in a non-threatening and casual atmosphere and are to be a free invitation. The meal could be a breakfast, BBQ or pot luck dinner, with the aim to build relationships between the church and the community and most importantly, to provide opportunities to explain Christianity through courses such as Alpha, Introducing God and Christianity Explained.
